2020 has been a tough year, and for obvious reasons, for most of us the focus has not been on the climate crisis. But TSP are an optimistic bunch — so we decided to create a positive legacy from 2020. Our goal was simple: to become a carbon-neutral Property Manager.
Move aside, corona. Hello, green energy.
To do this, we partnered with Ecologi, a cool start-up on a mission to help the business community become a climate-positive workforce. The basic premise: we fund carbon climate projects worldwide to offset our emissions: both for TSP itself and for our property portfolio.
The details_
As a business, we produce 55.34 tonnes of CO2 a year. That’s 55.34 tonnes of CO2 we are not happy about. But understanding our impact has given us the power to change. Ecologi has helped us convert money into quantifiable impact. Remove greenhouse gases via planting trees: tick. Reduce fossil fuels by using renewable energy: tick.
Energy Expertise_
The projects we support occasionally change: we let the Ecologi team use their expertise there, because they clearly know what they’re doing. In December our money helped preserve precious ecosystems in the Caribbean coast region of Guatemala, and provide clean energy through hydropower in Kanungu, Uganda.
The result: TSP is a carbon neutral Property Manager for the year 2020, an achievement we are very proud of!
We know that carbon offsetting isn’t the magic solution to the climate crisis, but it’s definitely a move in the right direction. As a company and as individuals, at TSP we are always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint, and try to help our partners and clients achieve the same. Our mindset towards sustainability is ‘go big or go home’.
Bring on the green revolution!
