PRESS RELEASE
LONDON – September 2023 – GPE has partnered with TSP, the real estate investment manager and charities sector expert, to create more than 20,000 sq ft of workspace for charities.
The two companies have been working together to identify non-profit organisations to occupy office space in GPE’s portfolio as “meanwhile use” space. Near term block dates providing commercially unviable lease lengths can provide charities with a cost effective home within GPE’s Central London portfolio while also contributing to GPE’s social value targets.
In an initial phase, GPE will offer a mix of commercial office at Minerva House (c. 14,300 sq ft), Kingsland House (c. 1,700 sq ft) and retail space at 180 Piccadilly (6,684 sq ft).
The first charity taking up space is the Nursery Theatre, a performing arts educational charity. The Nursery Theatre moved into Minerva House, Southbank of the River Thames, in May. GPE and TSP have also made space available at Kingsland House, Regent Street for Trekstock, a charity for young adults with Cancer and Supporting Wounded Veterans, a charity working with UK veterans to find independence after injury through sport, mentoring and employment.
GPE has partnered with TSP due to the company’s track record in supporting charities. TSP’s role is to market spaces within GPE’s portfolio to the charities sector and identify non-profit organisations who will benefit from using these spaces at no or very limited cost.
Jamie Binstock, Senior Portfolio Manager at GPE, commented: “As a property owner and developer across London, we aim for all our buildings to create a lasting positive social impact that will benefit all of our local communities. At GPE we are delighted that through the partnership with TSP we are able to support various charities by providing them with workspace across our London portfolio and look forward to continue developing and managing our buildings in a way that creates shared value for all.”
Zac Goodman, CEO at TSP said:
“Now more than ever it’s so important to support charities in the work they are doing – and what better way to achieve that than offering them flexible working spaces where they can bring their teams together.
We welcome the Nursery Theatre at Minerva House at a time when the arts sector is in dire need of public support. We are also so pleased to have signed up Trekstock and Supporting Wounded Veterans at Kingsland House. GPE’s offer of commercial space will make a huge difference for non-profits over the coming months and we look forward to seeing the impact of our collaboration.”
Kandy Rohmann, General Manager at The Nursery Theatre, said: “It’s been tricky getting back to in person work without our own space. We are eternally grateful to TSP and GPE for helping to facilitate our new offices. It’s been a tremendous help to the charity and will make a real difference to our work. Initiatives like this will certainly help organisations like ours in continuing to connect, train and entertain people through the power of art.”
